What an incredible race! Big shout out to Sweney Cycle Park, the track for the entire weekend was by far the best roughest track I have ever ridden in Colorado. Practice day on Sunday went really well and the rougher that the track got, the better I was starting to feel on the new bikes and suspension. My best lap time during practice was a 1:51 and the top pro's best practice time was a 1:45. So I was a little off of the pace that I wanted to be at but I was very confident and excited for race day. Overall the races on Monday couldnt have gone any better. I had solid and consistent top three starts in all 5 of my races and I felt really strong on the bike. I took four 1st place finishes and one 2nd place finish. So in my three classes on the day we ended with 1st in 450B, 1st in CollegeBoy, and 2nd in Open Am. The highlight of the weekend though was setting the fastest lap time of the entire event in our second 450 B moto. Tanner Wineland and I got out front early and really started to push each other, what a race! Unfortunatly, Tanner crashed really hard but was ok. I set a 1:42 lap time while battling with Tanner! First of all, all the glory goes to God! I would not be where I am right now without him in my life. Then I need to thank G-Force Powersports, my entire family, all my friends, and a special thank you to Chad Faulkner #17! I am so blessed to be given this opportunity and I am going to give it everything that I have. We have two weeks left of training and preperation to get ready for the Lakewood Loretta Lynn Regional.
First of all I just have to thank my entire family, friends, and sponsors! I am so grateful for this opportunity! The new suspension and bikes are incredible, this has been a huge missing piece in the puzzle for me. I could not believe how hard I was able to charge sections. I cant wait to start actually testing and trusting! Overall the first race on the new bikes and new suspension went great! Practice on friday was rained out but they got the track in perfect condition for saturday racing. I just had 450 B stock on saturday. On both my moto's I got taken out though on the starts, so I had to come from last. I felt like I rode really well but they only gave us 4 laps and lap time were around 1:20's! Such a short race! I was able to get 10th overall which means I passed about 10-15 kids. Then sat night the skies opened up and it didn't let up all night or sunday during the day. Crazy mud race! It was a blast! I ended up 3rd and 1st overall! I will have to send you a picture, it looked like that Daytona supercross where the track was just under water. They had to make this really slow section where you could yell out your number to them so they could score it! It felt great to get a win at our first race on the new set up and I just can't wait for this season of racing! Next thing for me now is to just keep training, get my practice bike suspension sent off and get ready for regional's!
We had a safe trip all the way to Iowa. Most of the trip it was raining really hard, but when we arrived in Iowa Thursday night it was beautiful outside. We woke up this morning to extreme weather! Rain and wind! Practice was just canceled for the day but racing will still go on for the weekend. We are praying that the weather will get better for the weekend of racing! Keep checking in for updates, photos, and race results.
