Name: Chris Johnson
Hometown: Fort Collins, CO Date of Birth: 5/9/1989 Height: 6'1" Weight: 185 lbs Number: 549 Turned Pro: 2011 "Chris Johnson is a rising star in the sport of motocross. He is working very hard to be one of the small yet exclusive riders to make the transition from the amateur ranks to the full stardom of the professional circuit. He made his pro debut summer of 2011 after the prestigious Loretta Lynn Amateur Nationals. Chris has a very unique background, much different from most racers transitioning to the pro ranks. Unlike every pro racer Chris did not start racing until he was 17 years old. He never viewed this as a disadvantage though and will be the first one to tell you that this just motivated him even more. When Chris was younger when most racers were traveling the Amateur National circuit he was training to get his black belt in Karate. At the age of 12 he succeeded after 8 years of hard work. Karate is still a huge asset to his training program to this day. In high school (very small percentage of pro's in motocross ever go to public school) Chris was very active playing football and baseball. He had always been passionate about motorcycles and dreamed of racing one day. This all led up to his first race in 2007 Weighing in just over 260 pounds Chris won his first ever motocross race going 1-1. Chris knew his body building build would not allow him to go to the next level in motocross. He teamed up with TYT MX Training and within a 6 month period he dropped to the better racing weight of 195 and became the 2nd rider in history to make the AMA Loretta Lynn Amateur Nationals in his first year of racing. Fast forward to the beginning of his 5th year of racing and Chris is ready to embark on the AMA Professional Circuit the summer of 2011. It is the off the track charisma and character though that makes Chris Johnson such an unique young man." |
